Upcoming Events

Upcoming Events:

Parent-Teacher Conferences (A, B, C track): We look forward to having you come in to formally discuss your student’s progress and celebrate their successes.  Conferences will be held this coming Wednesday and Thursday (Nov. 7-8).  Conferences for portable classrooms will be held in the gym, all other conferences will be held in your child’s classroom.  If you haven’t already signed up for a time online, please contact the teacher to secure an open slot. D-track conferences will be held on Nov. 28-29.

Veterans Day Assembly: November 11th is set aside each year by our federal government to celebrate Veterans Day.  However, since that is on a Sunday this year, we will have an assembly on Friday, Nov. 9th at 9:30 to honor the men and women who have served in the armed forces. Just like last year, we will honor a handful of veterans (parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles, brothers/sisters, neighbors, etc.) as part of our assembly.

Reflections Awards Night:  This year’s theme “The Magic of the Moment” has produced many wonderful student entries.  An awards night will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13th in the gym at Butterfield Canyon.  Our congratulations and compliments go to all students who made an entry and a huge thanks to the volunteers from the PTA who helped to make this event possible.  All students who participated in the program will be invited to an ice-cream party during school hours.

Lost and Found:  Every year at about this time our Lost and Found gets filled with all kinds of clothing. It is cold in the morning, but decent in the afternoons, so coats, hats, gloves, etc. get accidentally left in the hallways or on the playground. We would strongly encourage parents to write the family’s last name on the tag of these items. In addition, if you discover something is missing, please check the lost and found the hallway near the cafeteria for any of these items. Throughout the year, the amount of lost items can exceed our ability to store in our limited space.  To create space we will periodically donate unclaimed items to charity.  We strongly encourage you to pick up any lost items when you come in for parent conferences, because the week after the last conference in the fall and spring is when we will clean house.
Grandparents Day: Lots of relatives come together at Thanksgiving to enjoy each other’s company and reflect on the many things for which they are grateful. Since we know many grandmas and grandpas might be in town over the Thanksgiving holiday, we have set aside some time on Wednesday, November 21st from 9:30-10:30 to invite grandparents to join their grandchildren at Butterfield Canyon.  They are welcome to join the learning activities occurring in the classroom and spend some time together while enjoying some refreshments.
Red Ribbon Week: Activities that educate and encourage our students to be drug and alcohol free will take place the week of November 28th through December 5th.  There will be a kick-off assembly, spirit activities during the week, and a closing activity (Classic Skating Night, Dec. 5th  @ 5:00-8:30). These activities will take place on a Wednesday to a Wednesday in order to allow students from all tracks to participate.
Choir Concert for Parents:  Their performance will begin at 6:30 on the evening of December 6th and will last for approximately one hour.  Family members are encouraged to attend this event to celebrate their hard work and enjoy the beautiful music and impressive performance.  Our choir directors, Ms. Holtkamp and Mrs. Matthews, have spent countless hours alongside the students in dedicated practice week in and week out.  See you there!
Holiday Band Concert:  This will begin at 6:00 on the evening of December 13th and will last for approximately an hour.  Family members are encouraged to attend this event to celebrate their hard work and enjoy the beautiful music and impressive performance.  Our band director, Ms. Natasha Bell, is very talented and we are lucky to have opportunities for our students to learn to play these instruments.  Their talents and hard work will combine to create an evening of musical enjoyment and celebration of their dedication and hard work.
Student of the Month: The character trait for the month of November is Self Discipline.  Students will be learning more about how to demonstrate that trait in class and on our video announcements.  Teachers will be able to select two students from each class who have stood out in demonstrating of that trait while at school.  Those students will be recognized at an in-school celebration towards the end of the month.  The trait for December is Cooperation.
